Retro and 8-bit sound effects

Chiptune-style blips, jumps, coins, lasers and explosions for pixel-art and arcade games, as WAV and OGG. Every sound is synthesised from scratch, the way old consoles made sound. Royalty-free for commercial games.

Questions

Do they work in Unity, Godot, Unreal and GameMaker?

Yes. Import the WAV files into any of them (OGG too in Unity, Godot and GameMaker). Sounds are short, trimmed and loudness-matched, so they play at a similar level without extra mixing.

Can I use these sounds in commercial games and videos?

Royalty-free: use them in commercial games, apps, videos and streams, including client work. No credit needed. Not allowed: reselling or sharing the files themselves.

Which file formats do I get?

Every sound comes as WAV 44.1 kHz 16-bit and OGG Vorbis, with the same file names in both. WAV works in every engine and editor; OGG is smaller and loads in Unity, Godot and GameMaker.

Are there free sounds to try first?

Yes. 30 game sound effects are free on itch.io with no sign-up, and most pack pages offer one sound from each of their categories for free when you join the monthly Packsmithy email.

How are the sounds made?

Every sound is synthesised from scratch in code, so there are no recorded samples from other libraries inside. Made with AI.
